Hiding Places of Bed Bugs

Hiding Places of Bed Bugs

When it comes to pests, bed bugs can be quite annoying! Finding them can be challenging, as they can easily fit into cracks and crevices due to being so small in size. They are more commonly found in mattresses and bedding, however, leaving dark brown or black spots of excrement onto surfaces and an unpleasant odor.

Wherever you spend the most time in your home is where you will most likely find bed bugs if you have an infestation. These bugs have flat bodies and they prefer crawling into spaces close to where we sleep, such as mattresses, box springs, headboards and footboards, bed frames, and nightstands. If it is within five to eight feet of the bed, it is the perfect hiding spot for bed bugs. They also like to hide in cracks and gaps between the wall and wall outlets, floor/window/door molding, and in the space where carpeting meets the wall. If the population of the infestation is large, they won’t all be in one spot. Chances are, they have split up and have moved into different areas.

If you know someone who has recently dealt with bed bugs, you may want to refrain from having them in your home for a while. Bed bugs can easily travel into non-infested dwellings.
